In practicing the martial art of Naginata, we pursue personal growth by honing stamina, discipline, and focus. We challenge our limits, competing against who we were yesterday, while mastering intricate techniques and fighting in traditional armor within a controlled environment. More than physical training, Naginata teaches us the etiquette, respect, and responsibility rooted in the time-honored techniques of the samurai, shaping us into individuals committed to excellence in all areas of life.
We practice every Monday 20:30-21:50 at Erasmus Sport on the Erasmus University Campus
Since founding our dojo in 2018, we have navigated challenges and successes with resilience and determination. Even during the trying times of the pandemic, when many members had to return home, our small, committed group continued to thrive, consistently raising the bar in terms of quality. Our perseverance has paid off, with one of our members now representing the Dutch National team at the upcoming European Championships.
Our regular Sensei, who holds the prestigious 5th dan Renshi rank, is among the highest graded outside Japan. This distinction attracts regular visits from the National team captains of both the men's and women's teams, enhancing our training experience.
Furthermore, our connections to the rich traditions of the art form are strengthened by visits from Japanese Sensei once or twice a year. Their expertise and guidance infuse our dojo with authentic wisdom and inspiration, affirming our place as a center of excellence in the world of martial arts.
